Where's Kate?

Paine Family PicTHE fun(NY) stuff

I’M A: native Vermonter. (That’s kind of a big deal here as there aren’t many of us around who can claim that these days.)

I THOUGHT I WANTED TO BE: a broadcast journalist when I grew up but, instead, I decided I preferred to be behind the camera. I once had a video production and photography business in the early ‘90s.

MY INNER GEEK: I love to do research. (From SEO to techie mountain bike gear, and from social media trends to pro photography on an iPhone.)

SOMEDAY I’D LOVE TO: do a TED Talk, except talking about personal branding is likely not very motivational.

I WAS AN INTERN: at CBS News in New York in the late ‘80s and I worked for CBS Morning News and The Evening News with Dan Rather. A life-directing experience for me. It was then I realized I didn't want to work in corporate broadcasting but I learned so much during that time.

I’M A MOM: of two teenage sons who surprise me each day, make me laugh, and work hard on a family Christmas Tree farm. They also have a sugaring business with their father and make the best Vermont maple syrup anywhere. (I’m biased.)

I ENJOY: stand up paddleboarding, waterskiing (yep, that's me above, on the right), kayaking, Alpine and Nordic skiing, mountain biking, and taking tons of pictures.

I THINK I’M ALLERGIC TO: cooking. However, I do make killer mashed potatoes.

I’M TOLD I HAVE: a great laugh and that it's “distinctive.” I guess you'll have to make me laugh to find out.

Everyone has a story. Seriously, every one. But most people believe they don’t and if they do, they don’t think it’s unique, compelling, and they certainly don't know how to make it relevant to their profession.

I’m pretty certain you do have a story and it’s my job to tease it out of you. You’ll discover how telling your story will infuse your online profiles with your personality, and weave it into a story relevant to your professional expertise.

I love telling a person’s story. It’s what inspired me to pursue a journalism degree and the path, which led me into my writing, communications, media and public relations career. As a journalist and a PR professional for 20+ years, I know what makes a good story, a great story.

I work with:

  • Professionals (also in career transition)
  • Business owners and Solo Entrepreneurs
  • Executives and Managers
  • Industry Visionaries and Public Figures
  • Corporate sales and marketing teams
  • Speakers, Authors, Coaches, and Consultants

    You’ll know how to:
  • Make your online engagement effective and time efficient
  • Define your personal brand and value
  • Build relationships so your clients, prospects, or employers get to know and trust you
  • Use social media tools to achieve your online promotion goals
  • Showcase your expertise and thought leadership so people seek you out to help them
